A day in the life of India

When the rivers walked the roads…

Those rainy days were different, every time it rained there used to water logging, roads used to get filled with water, it became a chutti for most of the people, now with the municipal corp. laying all the big storm water drainage there simply isnt a bit of water left on the roads.. some people might think it as a good thing but i seriously miss those days.. whenever there is water logging everyone would be out on the road, ploughing themselves thru the water it was good fun..
By 10 am we get drunk as everywhere there was water everyone took or got a leave, others made bahanas of water.. we used to play in those muddy water, trying to wet each other, other people looked at us in amusement we played like children, i guess in every man there is a child who wants to play (read it some where). Then there was this ground which was adjacent to a pond; when ever the pond gets over flowed all the fishes are on this ground and on road.. We buy the fishing pins and thread and set out for fishing, we used to bring these fishes at home in polythene bags thinking that people at home will cook it, but sady they refuse.. atlast they are just thrown away. some are put in tanks all of them die within a week. I once got 2 cat fish and a tortoise they had been with me for around 5 years, all three of them used to fight a lot, both the fishes had become bloody, good parts of their body eaten by each other, then one day they jumped out of the tank and died.. tortoise was there for a long time then eventually it died too. it wasn’t too long just last year that we enjoyed so much and this year the roads are dry within a blink. Its just so boring.. seems those day are lost for ever.. i think what a great loss it is for the coming generation who would never be able to experience these moments of joy when the rivers walked the roads..

  4. Water, water everywhere … not to forget the paper boats and polythene raincoats too. As the rains come, such posts make delightful reading!
