Income tax or Extortion?

with 18 comments

Isnt Income tax more like robbing, zabardasti taking away the money as an hafta. Isnt taxing another name for extortion, there isnt much difference from the way the mafia works. They like the government target only the well to do, but the governemnt doesnt even leave the middle class, atleast the mafia troubles only the rich.

If you dont pay your hafta to the government they kidnap you and put you in their torture chambers “jails”. Isnt putting the citizens of one;s own country in jail for not paying the state his hard earned money something that is wrong. Is there really much difference between the robbers and the government both zabardasti taking away its targets money. Why did we fight for independence if we still have to pay to live in our own country. Are we living in the illusion of it being our country?

I dont pay income tax,  because i fucking dont believe that the government has any right to tax the individuals of this country for the income they are earning. But i m not here proposing to abolish all kind of taxes, i m specific about Income tax. There cant be any justification to income tax, and absolutely not in a country like india, where we dont get a shit in the name of facilities for paying the taxes.
Government has enuf sources of income, there is absolutely no need to charge income tax.  There is service tax, exicse, goods, sales and all fucking taxes and on top of it why shud we pay more taxes. We dont realise but every person in this country is already paying more than 20% of his earning while purchasing products and service and on top of that they want another big chunk of income.
And what the shit are the government doing with all this money, i cant see anything happening around. Are they charging for roads? we are paying road tax for that, plus taxes on vehicles and fuels isnt that enuf to build roads, and most highways are tolled, so we need to pay toll plus all these taxes, is this a fucking joke or what.

Politicians are filling their coffers with all our tax money, every now and then politicians and officials get caught, how many of them are in jail not more than we can count on fingers, isnt it. Why should we pay extra for the inefficiencies of the government. Isnt it total dadagiri on part of the government to zabardastily extract money from its citizens. They charge extra education cess on service tax since some years, has it improved the condition of education in our country? The question here is does the government really need to charge income tax on top of all the taxes that its charging already.

We pay for electricity, water, shelter, and every fucking thing we are paying in cash, then why is the government charging us extra, to run elections? What does the government produce? nothing. It neither provides any infrastructure for free, we are already paying for that infrastructive in form of fee, so taxing for infrastructure is not justified, and infrastructure is anyway a joke here in this country.

People are going to private hospitals for health issues, private schools for education, then what the fuck is government providing here. And the state of these schools and hospitals are such that it wouldnt make any difference if it werent their in first place.

Isnt all these taxes enuf for the governemnt to provide these service, why then the income tax. They doesnt really earn anything from income tax. It just gets chillar after deducting the expense it incurrs to collect those taxes… 60% of the tax money that government collects goes into administrative expense to collect these taxes, and if one counts the amount of money and productive time spent by corporates and individuals on paying these taxes then there isnt anything left, all these money is just going into waste. If these amount is kept with the people and companies it could be of tremendous utility and they will all go directly to the market instead going to the government then to the market, the more the money travels the more its lost, and knowing how corrupt the government is in india. Nothing really happens of that money, all of those goes in politicians and government officials pocket.

The more important point is the trouble people go thru to pay these taxes, taxes are not simple and a simple person cant fucking understand how the chut is it calculated, are they supposed to get trained for that, now they need to pay tax consultants to pay the taxes what a chutiypankti. Fill the forms stand in lines to pay money that is just going to disappear. fucking nonsense..

The truth is that Income tax is charged so that there is a fear of the government, it makes a statement that there is someone bigger than the individuals who has control over people’s lives, who can put you in jail and torture you if you dont pay your hafta. Its a psychological weapon that are used by the government to instill fear in its people. The mafia works on the same principle of fear, the mafia will continue to demand money even if they dont need it, just to instill their fear, to make its subjects realise that there is someone who has control over them and they have to be afraid of them…

How can we call ourselves citizens of this country when we are paying hafta, how are we free, what sense does it make to be a citizen of an independent country, how can we call it our country, how can we say the government is for us when all they are doing is bullying us and looting our hard earned money, they are literally extorting money and they call it taxes…

If you like it then it.

  1. We have a vigilante here ha :)I kind of agree with your points, that we are being taxed on every way and still somehow its not making the difference that it should have.Having said that, I don't think we have people with innovative minds handling the finances coz people are getting taxed because the govt. think it needs to self sustain, it never gives a thought how to use this money in better way. Except the funds gets allotted to this scheme or that scheme but the common man never gets to gain from them as he stands unaware. To me it makes better sense if people start forming their own communities in their localities and start funding out of their own pockets to ease the problems instead of paying taxes. At least that way one can see the changes and where the money is spend.Getting taxed and having no idea how one's money spend is something that needs to be changed.

  4. Well… I don't know where you got your stats from. Some of them seem a little wild… and some a little mild. For eg: it is calculated that almost 40% of whatever income you earn goes back to the government in the form of taxes. (talking abt sales, road, income everything put together)we might not be getting proper value for money. but not paying taxes is not the solution. you rightly mentioned roads and schools as already having their own specific taxes. but what about the army? do we have a separate tax for the army? we don't. or what about the judiciary? so we need different types of taxes to meet different types of expenses. if one is really interested in getting better roads/schools then must participate more actively in the political process and prevent the loot of this money. there is no point sitting on the sidelines and blaming everyone else abt this. this the position that most mediocre ppl take. there's no value added by it. it only creates negative vibes.apart from this… your question as to why should i pay taxes for my hard earned money. there are many ways to look at this. one of course for the many expenses that the govt incurs. the govt of the day works to enable us to go about our daily lives. imagine the chaos if we had to fend for ourselves instead of letting the police and the army do this for us. we wouldn't have had time to become engineers/doctors. probably not even farmers, we'd be too busy just trying to survive somehow. so the govt works as an enabler. now when you are earning more money… this in some way implies that you are using more of the resources. this might not be directly apparent. but for simplicity… suppose you have a lot of money in the bank. now the govt has to make sure that no one steals the bank, that you are not cheated of your money, that there are regulations in place so that you may access your money from time to time. now you are obviously using more resources than someone who's having less money in the bank. so by that logic you should pay more money as tax. i admit that the system is far from perfect. but you to get the gist of the system.

  5. @ajai.. i m not against all kind of takes, i m just against income tax… i believe there is no need to collect income since there is nothing left of the collected money, instead if tht money is left with people it will result into more consumption of good and services indirectly helping the government to earn more taxes thru them… it is an accepted fact that when ever taxes are decreased the health of the economy gets better.. i m not proposing to eliminate all taxes, but just income tax.. even if the government collects it or not, the government will earn just the same amount of tax.. so there is no point in creating trouble for its citizens

  6. well… there is a general idea that doing away with income tax will get stimulate the economy as people will have more money to spend. but… from history we learn that people have a tendency to horde money. that's not good. money needs to constantly flow through the system. money is kinda like water. you must let it flow otherwise it will go stale. Income tax also acts as a stimulant for the economy. People taking loans, insurance etc get income tax rebate. I admit that this is not directly apparent but this is one good coming of Income Tax… atleast in India.also if you make 10 lacs in India and then decide to take all that money and spend it in Dubai/London, isn't that a loss for India? Shouldn't we try to prevent that? The Govt in it's own way has to make sure that most of the money that is made in India stays in India.

  7. its not a general idea, its an well accepted fact in economics, and what history are you talking about i have no idea..first of all you dont have any idea about economics.. taxes are barriers which blocks the money,, when taxes are removed the money flows.. thats why as part of economics stimulus during times of depression tax breaks are given to stimulate the consumption. Income tax never acts as an stimulant, u are going against the very basic principles of economics.People dont hoard money when they have enuf of them, they invest money or they spend money, even if they dont want to spend or invest they deposit in banks.. and when deposited in banks it goes back into the market in from of loans, thus increasing consumption again..its the income tax that leads to black money and hoarding,, thts what was happening in the 80's when tax rates were high, only after liberisation did the money start flowing into the market…in globalised market you cant make money stay in the country, money always flows.. there is nothing wrong if people are spending money outside the country, it actually means the country is prospering.. out bound tourism is a sign of economic prosperity.. every country that is prosperious will have outbound tourist,, and its good for the local and global economy…the idea of making money stay in one's own country is not feasible in current economic situation, protectionism doesnt work.

  8. Well ur thinking can be applicable only in asian countries where corruption is rampant and u wont get government spending on whatever u r paying to it in form of income tax. But if u see western countries some of them have 60-65 % income tax. and their ppl are the most happy in the world on some Happy index ( dont remeember the name)….The reason being everything is free , right from medical , schooling, etc etc. but in india we have corruption so when money flows from one person to other it keeps on shrinking and at last there is very less for actual development…I dont know if i make sense…

  9. @survior,, u have a point there but if we make it community based as you say, then there will be certain back ward communities that will never get out of their loop of backwardness..@sm tax system is wrong, esp the income tax.@lincoln its true that some western countries have high income tax.. but i dont think its good.I know a government needs to charge taxes and i dont oppose that, but i dont belive income taxes helps the economy or government,, it is just used as a tool to exert power on ppl..countries can do without income tax.. there should be equality in everything so should be in tax collection, you cant extort money from ppl just because they are earning too much..

  10. I meant that in a hypothetical way.I guess the reality is that taxes are here for stay but more than that its important to know as a tax payer where the money is diverted and how is it used. It just adds on to frustration when you see bad roads, failure of implementation of schemes, etc. If one knows how their money is used at least it would give them a sense of how they are contributing to the country/economy.Transparency on the taxes collected and its usage is the need of the hour.

  11. How I wish not to pay the tax so that they can build airports in in accessible areas and make it a part of party fund!Corruption*sigh..and income tax is a more legalized way to accelerate the process of corruption

  12. I hear you, mate! I feel your frustration too. It is not the tax system that bothers, but the hands into which this hard-earned tax money falls into.I somehow see a point in not income-taxing a salaried employee. That way you empower him to spend a lot and you can collect a hell lot of money, isn't it?But perhaps there are certain things you and I don't see for which we still need to pay income tax. Perhaps…

  13. The process of collecting Income tax and utilizing them may be wrong, but I can never agree that income tax is a barrier in economics, Taxation to meet the need of a welfare state is important. You need to calculate the cost of the running of a government and its administration. With hordes of black money all around the world, do you think those dirty souls will turn to holy ones the moment I-Tax is abolished. Don't trust those black money hoarders so much. You may talk of lower rates, easier ways to deposit taxes, lenient tax penalties. But to talk of abolishing I-tax from a chosen few is like asking richer to be exponentially rich, and poor being absolutely poor.

  14. I agree with you. We should do away with the income tax because other taxes like the sales taxes should provide enough income to services. Also, public servants should not get paid as they serve the people, not their own bank accounts

  16. no matter how much i hate parting with that hard earned money, i am really glad u r not the finance minister of my country. taxes need to be paid. only think lacking is uniformity. Salaried employees like me get drained while big companies manage to evade.

  17. @survivor… i generally dont subscribe to the idea of collecting income tax, but still if they are collecting u r right in saying that atleast it should be used in a transparent way…@sorcerer.. thts absolutely right, taxes leads to corruption@vitthal.. why be partial with salaried employees, there are other small business owners too that have to part with their money which they could have used to invest and grow their business,,, so doing away with personal income tax is needed@idle.. taxation is certainly needed for the welfare of the state and giving social security to the lesser previliged,, i m not saying anything about abolishing all taxes,, i m only particular about personal income tax..the concept of black money exists because of the existence of income tax.. if there is no income tax,, all money becomes white… so ppl dont have to stack them in swiss accounts,, they can use the money in their own country… removing income tax will bring all those money back to the country…@quakster.. thats what my point is,, there are enuf taxes thru which the government can earn money,, there is no need of this extortion racket called income tax@darshan.. i m shocked by the lack of basic knowledge of economics in most ppl,, i certainly didnt expected ppl to say that "taxes stimulate economies" i see a need to educate them now..yes some times the comments are more vibrant than the article..@chhaya… well everyone wants themselves not be taxed like u said,, its the big companies that pay u salary isnt it.. then y r u against them..nobody is saying taxes need not be paid, without taxes governments cant functions its too obvious,, i m talking here just about income tax not all taxes@
